Company Profile

The National Development Commission is a constitutional body created by Articles 86 and 87 of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana and established by The National Development Planning Commission Act, 1994 (Act 479). Its function is to advice the President of Ghana on national development planning policy and strategy. The Commission also coordinates and regulates the decentralized national development planning system in accordance with the National Development Planning System Act, 1994 (Act 480)

 

Job Description

In pursuance of its objects, the Commission seeks to recruit suitably qualified Ghanaians who are goal oriented and results driven with excellent leadership qualifies for appointment to the above vacant senior position in the Commission.

 

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • The Deputy Director is responsible for the preparation of relevant divisional input into the National Development Policy Framework and Plans under the supervision of the Director of the Division;
  • Assist the Director in identifying relevant data and research needs for the preparation of policies and strategies for the specified subject area of his/her responsibility;
  • Keep under constant review goals and objectives of relevant sector policies and strategies and advice the Director accordingly;
  • Liaise with relevant sector agencies to obtain information and inputs for the preparation of relevant development policies and strategies;
  • Assist the Director in the management of the Division and the preparation and implementation of divisional work plans

 

Required Skills or Experience

  • A post-graduate degree, preferably a PhD inĀ Economics, Social Sciences, Development Studies or Planning from a recognized University;
  • A minimum of 10 years post qualification relevant work experience in a senior position in a public or private sector organization, international organization, university or research institution;
Competences and Skills:
  • Good written and oral presentation skills;
  • Demonstrable competence in the use of computer software or applications for policy analysis is required;
  • Ability to work with officials from all sectors of the economy in a participatory manner
