General Function

The purpose of this role is to support the Marketing and Communication Team of IOM/MIDA (Migration for Development) Health Rwanda Project so as to smoothly implement its communication and marketing strategies towards Rwandan Diaspora health professionals. The incumbent should be able to use social media (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, etc.).

 

Essential functions will be as follow:

  • Assist in managing/promoting IOM/MIDA Project strategies through social media
  • Assist in the implementation of the information, communication and outreach strategy
  • Assist in the production and distribution of a diverse range of communication materials
  • Assist in updating the IOM/MIDA Health Professional contact list and database
  • Assist the IT and Outreach Officers in ensuring Rwandan diaspora website is up to date
  • Perform any other duties, as may be required

Desirable Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Qualifications in (or studying towards) marketing, communications or public relations
  • Experience in an administrative role in a marketing, communications or public relations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English and French with a diverse range of audiences
  • Experience using online communication tools (intranet, internet, website) and social media for marketing/public relations purposes Skills (or a willingness to learn) desktop publishing would be highly regarded
  • Experience in event management
  • Interest and skills in social media, website, etc.
  • A good understanding of Rwandan Diaspora, IOM and the Rwandan health services sector

 

Desirable Personal Qualities:

  • A connection with and being able to advocate for IOM/MIDA’s vision, values and philosophy
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Adaptability, flexibility and resilience with the ability to respond positively to change
  • Initiative, capacity to work with minimal supervision and confidence in decision making
  • IOM Competencies required: effective communicator, successful negotiator, creative analytical thinker, active learner, team player and cross cultural facilitator
