Job Description

The National Peace Council invites applications from suitably qualified persons who are goal-oriented, results-driven, with exceptional qualities and enthusiasm for appointment to the under-mention position.

Object of the Person:
To provide technical and operational leadership for the achievement of the objectives of the Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Department, and the mandate of the Council.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical advice in the design and implementation of research activities, and the monitoring and evaluation of the programmes of the Council;
  • Provide intellectual and technical leadership in research, monitoring and evaluation through identification of key policy issues and formulation of best possible options for learning and sharing;
  • Ensure the production of quality knowledge products, reports, publications;
  • Oversee peer review of programme documents in the area of research, monitoring and evaluation;
  • Collaborative/Advise/Supervise with the Regional Programme Units of the Council to ensure efficient and effective implementation of programmes and activities with respect to research, monitoring and evaluation;
  • Establish and maintain strategic partnership, and support resource mobilization in collaboration with other programme management support units;

 

Required Skills or Experience

  • A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Social or Natural Sciences or Peace and Conflict Studies or a related programme, from an accredited tertiary institution;
  • A minimum of ten (10) years’ relevant work experience in a reputable institution, five years of which must be in a senior management position
Competencies and Skills:
  • Knowledge of peace building and governance;
  • Knowledge in gender sensitive programmes, design and implementation;
  • Practical knowledge of conflicts in Ghana;
  • Communication, report writing, reporting and presentation skills;
  • Negotiation, mediation, arbitration and lobbying skills;
  • High level computer proficiency
  • Familiarity with the operations and management of peace programmes;
  • Knowledge of project and programmes management;
  • Extensive qualitative, quantitative and analytical skills
