Job Description

The National Peace Council invites applications from suitably qualified persons who are goal-oriented, results-driven, with exceptional qualities and enthusiasm for appointment to the under-mention position.

Object of the Person:
To provide technical and operational leadership for the achievement of the objectives of the Conflict Resolution and Management Department, and the mandate of the Council.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical advice in the design and implementation of projects and programme on conflict management and peace building;
  • Facilitate the implementation of all programmes and activities of the Department;
  • Develop frameworks for enhanced dialogue, mediation, arbitration and negotiations between actors in conflict;
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders, especially national training institutions, universities and donors on joint programmes and other types of collaboration;
  • Liaise with Regional Programme Units to ensure efficient and effective implementation of programme activities;
  • Develop, in collaboration with other Directors of the Council, frameworks for enhanced networking with Development Partners, MMDAs and other relevant stakeholders in support of programmes and projects

 

Required Skills or Experience

  • A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Peace and Conflict Studies or a related programme, from an accredited tertiary institution;
  • A minimum of ten (10) years’ relevant work experience in a reputable institution, five (5) years of which must be in a senior management position
Competencies and Skills:
  • Good knowledge in peace building, governance, gender and conflict resolution;
  • Extensive leadership, networking, monitoring and management skills;
  • Good communication, interpersonal skills and presentation skills;
  • Good negotiation, lobbying, arbitration and diplomatic skills;
  • Good knowledge of financial, procurement, budgeting and internal audit regulations;
  • Extensive knowledge of the conflict situation in Ghana
  • Strong qualitative, quantitative and analytical skills;
  • High level computer proficiency;
  • Knowledge of project and programme management
